Naha Port Wheel Campus Kubasaki American High School
Photos and Information on the Naha Port Wheel Campus
The area outlined in red in the image, below, is the area occupied and used by Kubasaki American High School from fall of 1957 to spring of 1964. The remains of the old athletic field for track, football and baseball are still visible in this 1977 aerial photo. The buildings are the same buildings that were used 13 years, before. The gymnasium was still standing, in this picture.
Here are the few pictures we have of the buildings, as they were used. Two barracks buildings served as the high school from 1957 to 1964, mid year. Below picture was taken in the 1960 timeframe.
In the picture below, from 1962 timeframe, there are clearly two Dragons placed at the front entry. We have reason to believe these two dragons were moved to the Kishaba Building with the students and supplies. It is unknown how many times the dragons were replace, over the years. We know the dragons that were at the entry in the late 70s and 80s were different from this set and the set at Kishaba in the 60s.
